The Cathedral Council of Catholic Women has awarded $6,000 in scholarships to deserving students who are members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish who will be continuing their Catholic education in the 2008-2009 school year. Scholarship recipients demonstrate excellence in the areas of academic record, community and parish service, leadership and the written essay.

Two Cathedral eighth-grade graduates, Peter Staab and Kaitlyn VonBehren, were selected to each receive scholarships to further their Catholic education.  Recipients were announced at the graduation ceremony on May 25.

In addition, CCCW also awarded five scholarships to deserving high school students: Adam Cervellone, Katelyn Hall, Margaret Hall, Jordan Thomas and Kyra Williamson.

The CCCW scholarship program is made possible from proceeds raised at the annual ice cream social and garage sale. Due to construction work, this year's ice cream social will be July 9 at Little Flower Parish.
