Then the school had a surprise for the bishop.

“I was totally surprised and greatly honored to learn that they had named their new ‘Bishop Paprocki – Mind – Body – Spirit – Fitness Center’ after me!” exclaimed Bishop Paprocki. “I hope it gets a lot of good use!”

Construction was completed on the areas left unfinished when the new FMCHS building opened in 2015. The faculty and students moved into the new rooms at the start of the second semester.

Father Jeffrey Goeckner, FMCHS president and pastor of St. Boniface Parish in Edwardsville, dedicated the fitness center to honor Bishop Paprocki for his “service and tremendous support of the school.” The center is complete with state-of-the-art fitness equipment through the generousity of an area business and will be used by physical education classes and student athletes at the high school.
