St. Louis — Sister Christian Marie Ehrhardt, SSND, died Nov. 22, at Sancta Maria in Ripa in St. Louis. She was 68, and a former teacher, missionary, pastoral minister and tutor.
Sister Christian Marie was born in Quincy. She entered the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1967. She professed first vows in 1970 and final vows in 1976.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies from the former Notre Dame College in St. Louis in 1971.
Sister Christian Marie began her teaching ministry at St. Francis Solanus in Quincy. This ministry was followed by teaching positions at Our Lady of Loretto in St. Louis; Santa Isabel in Los Angeles; St. Aloysius in Tulare, Calif.; Our Lady of Mercy in Merced, Calif.; St. Martin de Porres in Hazelwood, Mo.; St. Philip in East St. Louis, Mo.; and Immaculate Conception in Dardenne, Mo. She also served in Kyoto, Japan on staff at SSND’s regional office and as a teacher at Notre Dame Girls’ Secondary School. Sister Christian Marie was an English tutor at the University of Illinois in Urbana as well.
Sister Christian Marie is survived by her sisters, Sue Ehrhardt, Joyce Varner and Sister Wilmarie Ehrhardt, OSB, and her brothers Mel Ehrhardt and Stephen Ehrhardt.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 28 at Theresa Center Chapel at Sancta Maria in Ripa in St. Louis. Burial was in the Sancta Maria in Ripa Cemetery.
