Daughters of Isabella, an organization for Catholic women age 16 or over, will hold their international convention Aug. 3-8 at the Millennium Hotel in St. Louis.

The organization is over 100 years old and was founded in 1897 in New Haven, Conn., as an auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus. It has local circles in the United States, Canada, and one in Japan. The Diocese of Springfield in Illinois has three active Circles - O'Reilly Circle #218 in Edwardsville (St. Boniface, St. Mary, and St. Cecilia parishes); Sacred Heart Circle #237 in Highland (St. Paul Parish); and Bishop O'Connell Circle #831 in Wood River (Holy Angels Parish).

The convention, conducted by international regent Elaine M. Leger, will open with Mass on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the St. Louis Cathedral and end with Mass and the installation of newly elected international officers on Aug. 6. The Order's history book written by Dr. Carol Clement will be released at this convention.

The theme of the convention is: "Celebrate Our History, Keep the Flame Ablaze."
