Granite City native ordained deacon

Brother Jason P. Nesbit, CSV, a native of Granite City, will be ordained to the diaconate at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Maternity BVM Church in Bourbonnais. Bishop Jacques Berthelet, CSV, a Viatorian and bishop of the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, Canada, will confer the sacrament.

Brother Nesbit is the son of Patrick Thomas Nesbit and Carol Jean Druhe Schreiber. He graduated from Granite City High School and attended Southern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history. He pronounced his first vows as a Viatorian on July 7, 2003, and his perpetual vows on July 7, 2008.

Brother Nesbit is pursuing graduate theological studies at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He will be assigned to Maternity BVM Church in Bourbonnais to complete his deacon internship.
