Deanery Masses of Welcome

During the month of September, a Mass of Welcome and Reception for Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will be held in each of the seven deaneries of the Springfield diocese. Collections taken at the Masses of Welcome will benefit Catholic Charities of the Springfield diocese.

DCCW to hold annual Lenten retreat for Catholic women

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) will hold its annual Lenten retreat on Wednesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 18 at the Villa Maria Catholic Life Center on Lake Springfield. All women of the diocese are invited.

The general topic will be “Christ’s Call to Evangelization” presented by Father Tom Donovan. Father Donovan was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Springfield in 2005 and is presently pastor at Ss. Mary and Joseph Parish in Carlinville. He also serves as a chaplain for the Illinois Air National Guard at the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria.

The schedule will include conferences, quiet time for prayer and reflection, eucharistic celebrations, the sacrament of reconciliation, viewing the movie Babette’s Feast, and time for fellowship with other Catholic women from the diocese.

Retreat registration and morning refreshments will be from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Conferences will begin at 10 a.m. and the retreat will conclude with lunch  on Thursday, March 18.  

Registration fee is $75 for overnight and $65 for commuters and the registration deadline is March 6.
