The statue was refurbished and installed in a newly-landscaped area, designed to be a meditation garden, in front of the school and along Sangamon Avenue in Springfield. Engraved paving bricks, purchased by parishioners in 1999, were installed around the statue. People will soon have the opportunity to purchase additional bricks. St. Aloysius parishioner Tom Feger supervised the project and renovation.

Following the dedication and a Mass, alumni, parishioners, school families and teachers took part in a celebration at K. of C. 4175 in Devereaux Heights. The attendees played games and enjoyed fellowship and dined on pulled pork barbecues and homemade desserts. Several people also donated to the parish/school textbook fund. The event was the first-ever homecoming celebration for St. Aloysius.
