  • Print

The sixth annual Our Lady of Good Counsel Women of Distinction Award and Luncheon will be held Saturday, June 17, beginning with 10:30 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.

The event is hosted by the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (SDCCW). Each parish in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois is asked to select a “Woman of Distinction” to be recognized by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki during Mass. Following the Mass a recognition luncheon for honorees, family members, friends and parish priests will be held at the Sangamon Prairie Reception Center in Chatham.

Event information letters and forms have been sent to all parish rectory offices in the Springfield diocese. Every parish is encouraged to participate in this event to honor those women who have actively lived their Catholic faith and share their time and talents by doing acts of service and leadership in their parish and the community. Honorees do not have to be a member of the parish CCW or other women’s organizations in the parish.

A registration form and luncheon registration form for the honorees are available from each rectory office. The deadline for registration is June 1, so that each honoree’s information can be included in the Women of Distinction program booklet.

Honoree registration forms should be sent to Joyce Knodle, 20345 N. 13th Ave., Fillmore, IL 62032. The absolute and final deadline for the luncheon reservations is June 12. Luncheon reservations are to be sent to SDCCW treasurer, Karla Huddlestun, 869 County Road 1850 E., Greenup, IL 62428.

For more information, please call Joyce Knodle, WOD registration chair, at (217) 825-5150 or email or contact Mary Ann Scopel, SDCCW president, at or call (217) 835-2505.
