GODFREY — The Knights of Columbus Council 7804 and St. Ambrose Parish in Godfrey are hosting a presentation called “Fatima 2017: 100 Years Later, Mary’s Triumph, Our Hope, a Final Warning” on Saturday, Aug. 19. The event begins at 7 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1713 Stamper Lane in Godfrey.
International speaker Dr. Peter Howard will “unpack the historical and spiritual significance of Mary’s visitations and messages at Fatima,” notes Deacon Jay Wackerly, who serves at St. Ambrose Parish. The Blessed Virgin appeared to the three children of Fatima — Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta — on six occasions in 1917.
“We are all being invited to learn more about Mary and Fatima,” says Deacon Wackerly. “With the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary being celebrated on Aug. 15 — what a great way to learn about and honor Mary.”
Howard is the founder and president of Heroic Families. He is a Mariologist, author and international speaker who earned his doctorate in sacred theology (S.T.D.) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome. A professor of theology at the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation, he is married to Chantal Howard and they have five children.
There is no charge for this event, which will include snacks, but a free will offering will be taken.
