On June 23, the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis celebrated the Jubilee — the anniversary of first profession of vows — of nine sisters in St. Francis of Assisi Church. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki and Father Richard W. Weltin was the homilist.
This year’s Jubilarians are Sister Jocelyn Serwatka, OSF, 75 years professed; Sisters Anna Clara Rick, OSF, Chaminade Kelley, OSF, Joseph Wu, OSF, Leonardine Sconzert, OSF, Marie Chang, OSF and Viola Swoboda, OSF, 70 years professed; and Sisters Maureen O’Connor, OSF, and Sherrey Murphy, OSF, 50 years professed. Throughout their religious life, these sisters served in various capacities at sponsored hospitals in Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin along with missions in China, Japan, Louisiana, Arizona and Illinois. Service by the Jubilarians continues to be provided in Springfield and Muenster, Germany.
