The five-year capital campaign included the construction of the east wing, housing two new science labs, an expanded physical science classroom, two additional classrooms and new offices for the principal and guidance counselors. Additionally, the campaign completed ongoing campus revitalization projects.
“The expansion on the east side of the building will allow our students and teachers to work in a space that is modern and comfortable,” said Mark McDowell, QND principal.
“We were very strategic in our approach and, in the end, met all of our goals on the fundraising and construction side,” added Kurt Stuckman, QND Foundation executive director.
The campaign received 417 gifts, of which 263 were from alumni. The expansion and renovation, which broke ground in June of 2016, is the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the Catholic high school that was founded in 1867.
