She was born to William and Agnes Dubry DuChene in Trenton, Mich. She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1931.
From 1934-1977 Sister M. Aquinas ministered in elementary education. Illinois schools included: Our Saviour, Jacksonville; St. John, Carrollton; St. Thomas, Crystal Lake; St. Norbert, Hardin; St. Lawrence O’Toole, Matteson; and St. James, Sauk Village. She also taught at Holy Rosary, Duluth, Minn., and St. Augustine, Richmond, Mich. Thereafter she served on the community leadership team, and in the archives and in support services.
Sister M. Aquinas was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard, Paul, Elmer, Chester, James, Glenn, Robert; and sister, Sister M. Cecilia, OP. She is survived by sisters Joan, Irene and Sister M. Bede, OP; nieces, nephews and her Dominican sisters.
The funeral Mass was held Feb. 1 at Sacred Heart Convent, with Father Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. Burial was Feb. 2 at Calvary Cemetery, Springfield.
