Obituary - Sister M. Georgene Tappa, OSF

The former Cecelia Georgene Tappa, she was born in Stiles, Wis., on Feb. 19, 1911, the daughter of Alexander and Louise Reed Tappa. She entered the congregation on Oct. 2, 1930, and professed her religious vows on May 18, 1933.

Sister M. Georgene was a graduate of Fontbonne College, St. Louis. She served the community as a dietician at hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. She returned to the motherhouse in 1998.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Alexander Tappa Jr., and three sisters: Verna Skinner, Eleanor Carlson, and Evangeline Reeder.

She is survived by two sisters: Mary Van Dolan of Appelton, Wis., and Darlene Wegner of Menomine Falls, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for over 79 years.

The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father Vincent Callahan, OFM, on June 24 in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at St. Francis Convent. Burial was in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.

Staab Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
