Sister Paula Marie Miller, OPSister Paula Marie Miller, 83, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died Oct. 1.

She was born in Decatur, the daughter of Paul and Stella (Chasco) Miller. She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1946.

Sister Paula Marie was a registered nurse who ministered primarily in health care services. She served at three hospitals: St. Dominic, Jackson, Miss.; St. Joseph, Wellington Texas; and St. Mary-Rogers Memorial, Rogers Ark. In her earlier years of ministry, Sister Paula Marie taught at parish schools in Illinois: St. Edward, Chicago; St. Charles Borromeo, Hampshire; St. Bernadette, Evergreen Park; and St. Vincent DePaul, Peoria.

Sister Paula Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sister Stella Marie Miller, OP. She is survived by her Dominican Sisters with whom she lived for 64 years.

The funeral Mass was held Oct. 6, in the Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, with Father Peter Witchousky OP, presiding. Commendation and burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield, was in charge of arrangements.
