Sister Margaret Mary Jenot, 80, a Dominican Sister of Springfield, died April 30.
She was born to John and Margaret Mary (Clinton) Jenot in Springfield. She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1951.
For the first 32 years of Sister Margaret Mary’s religious life, she taught in elementary Catholic parish schools in Chicago, Evergreen Park, Collinsville, Decatur, Granite City, Mendota, Morrisonville, Peoria, Sainte Marie, St. Anne in Illinois and in Duluth, Minn. Before retiring, her ministry was serving as a parish visitor at Our Saviour Parish, Jacksonville, and Sacred Heart Parish, Granite City.
Sister Margaret Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Robert and Thomas; and a sister, Kathleen Tranquilli. She is survived by her brother, Richard; three sisters, Mary Smith, Rita Smarjesse and Yvonne Fanning, all of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass was held May 3 at Sacred Heart Convent, with Father Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. Commendation and burial was May 4 at Calvary Cemetery, Springfield.
