Annual SDCCW Convention set for Sept. 29

Women who will be attending the 87th annual SDCCW Convention this year will be traveling to Paris — Illinois, that is — at the invitation of the Decatur Deanery of the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. The theme for the convention is "We are the Children of God," says Joyce Knodle, convention registration chair.

PARIS — Women who will be attending the 87th annual SDCCW Convention this year will be traveling to Paris — Illinois, that is — at the invitation of the Decatur Deanery of the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. The theme for the convention is "We are the Children of God," says Joyce Knodle, convention registration chair.

This year's convention will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at St. Mary's Church, 528 N. Main St. in Paris. "Attendees may enjoy refreshments and check-in beginning at 8 a.m. and the convention begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m.," says Knodle.

During the convention Bishop Thomas John Paprocki and diocesan parish priests will concelebrate Mass. New SDCCW board officers will be installed and the 2015 SDCCW scholarship winners will be recognized during the luncheon.

Speaker Amanda Mohl, Rescue and Restore Coalition coordinator at the International Institute of St. Louis, will present "Anti-Trafficking." Also featured at the convention is Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM, a Franciscan priest of the Sacred Heart Province of Chicago, who will present "Spiritual Zumba — Keeping Your Faith Life Fit." Additionally, a silent auction and raffles will be held.

Early registration for the event is open until Sept. 15 at a cost of $45. Late or on-site registration is $55. Cost for clergy or religious is $20.
