EDWARDSVILLE — The Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (SDCCW) will hold its annual convention on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Different deaneries traditionally take turns hosting the event. This year the Alton deanery is hosting, so the convention will be at St. Boniface Church, 110 N. Buchanan in Edwardsville.
“Ladies of the Springfield Diocese are cordially invited to attend the 91st SDCCW annual convention, which is titled ‘Protecting God’s Creations,’” says Judy Holmes, SDCCW president. “Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will celebrate holy Mass. Two speakers, the luncheon, silent auction, prayer tree, raffles, fun, fellowship and smiles will round out the joyful day.”
The convention will have two major presenters, Holmes says. Convention presenter Deby Sansone Schlapprizzi is a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker, television contributor, radio host, author and life activist. Her faith-based program The Splendor of You can be heard on Catholic Radio.
The second presenter, Maria Rodgers O’Rourke, is a popular author, speaker, facilitator and has authored two devotional journals for women. Her presentation is “Margaritas and Mayhem — Why God Gave Us Girlfriends.”
“Please make plans to attend this event,” Holmes says. “Together we make a difference!”
Registration and morning refreshments begin at 8 a.m., followed by the convention at 9 a.m. Mass will take place at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Hotel rooms have been reserved at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites in Edwardsville. Deadline for early registration for the convention — $50 for lay people and $20 for clergy and religious — is Sept. 6.
Registration forms and convention ad forms will be available in parish offices. For more information on the convention, contact Sue Schwegel at (618) 466-4208 or .
