Medical Leave of Absence

Reverend Charles Edwards is appointed to Temporary Medical Leave of Absence while remaining Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Effingham. This decree is effective immediately.

Parochial Administrator

Very Reverend R. Dean Probst, V.F. is appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Effingham, during the term of the Pastor’s temporary medical leave of absence while retaining duties as Dean of the Effingham Deanery and Pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Newton, and St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Ste. Marie. This decree is effective immediately.

Doctor Calvin Bell, M.D. is appointed to serve as a member of the Diocesan Review Board in accord with the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois’ “Clerical Sexual Abuse of Minors: Policies for Education, Prevention, Assistance, and Determination of Fitness for Ministry” and Norm 5 of the “Essential Norms for Diocesan Policies Dealing with Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests or Deacons” of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This appointment is for a five-year term, renewable, beginning Nov. 1, 2019.
