She was born June 11, 1954 in Covington, Ky., the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Kerl) Goebel.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George on Aug. 26, 1975, and professed her first vows on Aug. 15, 1978. She professed her final vows on Oct. 10, 1981, and celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 2000. Her missions included Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton from 1981-1986 in administration; St. Peter’s Hospital and McCarrick Care Center in Somerset, N.J., from 1986-1990 in administration; Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton from 1990-1996 as manager of the Radiology Department; McCarrick High School in South Amboy, N.J., from 1997-2006 as a science teacher; and Alleman High School in Rock Island from 2006-2008 as a science teacher.
She is survived by four sisters and two brothers, Joyce Goebel of Taylor Mill, Ky., Jean Miller of Latonia, Ky., James Goebel of San Antonio, Texas, John Goebel of Las Vegas, Nev., Janet Cropper of Edgewood, Ky., and Judith Tingley of Crescent Springs, Ky.; and her stepmother, Rose Goebel of Covington, Ky.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 1 at St. Frances Convent Chapel at Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton with Father Daniel Mirabelli, CSV, presiding. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton was in charge of arrangements.
