He was born June 16, 1930, the son of Frank Joseph and Bernice Marie (Griffin) Kekeisen. After his ordination on May 24, 1958, Father Kekeisen served as assistant at St. Boniface in Quincy (1958-1962); Cathedral in Springfield (1962-1965); St. Bernard in Wood River (1965-1969); and Holy Family in Decatur (1969-1971). He was pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto (1971-1985); and St. Boniface in Edwardsville (1985-1989). In 1989, he was parochial administrator of Mother of Dolors in Vandalia and chaplain at the Vandalia Correction Center. He was pastor of Holy Trinity in Mt. Olive (1989-1991); and St. Francis Xavier in Jerseyville (1991-1997). He retired from diocesan ministry in 1998 and moved to Florida, where he served at Our Lady of Lourdes in Venice and San Pedro in North Port.
Father Kekeisen is survived by four siblings, Janet Beasley, Louise Miller, Frank Kekeisen and Robert E. Kekeisen.
The funeral Mass was held Sept. 2 at Mother of Good Counsel Home in St. Louis. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis.
