A native of New Orleans, Sister Esther entered the Ursuline order in Crystal City, Mo., in January 1947, professing her first vows in July 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College in New Orleans, a master’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, and a degree in canon law from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome.
Sister Esther taught in Illinois, Texas and Louisiana and was high school principal of Ursuline Academy in New Orleans. She also served in many leadership roles. Since 2003 she had been a judge on the Metropolitan Tribunal for the New Orleans Archdiocese of New Orleans.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 31 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in New Orleans.
