Born July 11, 1921, in Springfield, she was the eldest of John G. and Elizabeth R. Harbauer Kirchgesner’s four children. She graduated from the former Ursuline Academy in Springfield in 1939 and made her first profession of vows as an Ursuline in 1942.
Sister Angela received a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle in New York and a master’s degree from St. Louis University. As an educator, she served in the Illinois cities of Springfield, Alton, Collinsville and Oak Park as well as in Missouri and New Orleans. She was recognized in St. Louis for her work on the Literacy Council. In 2002 she celebrated her Diamond Jubilee as an Ursuline.
She is survived by two brothers and their spouses, John (Alberta) and Richard (Joann); many nieces and nephews.
Sister Angela donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A memorial Mass was celebrated Nov. 21 at St. Francis Convent.
